All revenue generated goes directly back into the Museum. This allows us to sustain our ambitious programmes of exhibitions, events, education and outreach work as well as maintaining our permanent displays and archives.

I have a Year 11 group that is a mixture of 15- and 16-year-olds. Will the 16-year-olds have to pay an admission charge?
No. For pre-booked school groups, 16-year-olds that are part of a Year 11/KS4/GCSE class will get free admission. School groups should always pre-book.
I come every year with my Scout group. Do they have to pay an admission charge? Is it possible to book an education session as well?
Groups aged 16 years and over will have to pay an admission charge. If you have pre-booked and your group’s admission fees total £90 or more, your session will be free. You should always pre-book, as we cannot guarantee sessions will be available on the day.

I teach a Special Educational Needs group. Will they be charged for education sessions as well?
Special Educational Needs groups will be charged a flat fee of £60 and be given the support they need to have equal access to the Museum. This includes extra session time if necessary.
I don’t want to book a full education session, but it would be useful to have an introduction to the Museum. Is this something you offer free of charge?
Our front-of-house staff are on hand to support all visitors - please ask any of them for assistance on the day.
Many parents at my school cannot afford to pay for a teaching session on top of other expenses incurred during a school visit. Is there any additional support you can offer?
We understand that school trips can be expensive, and we are committed to providing access to culture for all young people. Admission for children under the age of 16 is free and almost all of our exhibitions and displays are also free.
Our educational sessions are excellent value, start at £60- just £2 per child in a group of 30 - for an hour-long session with a Museum educator. The sessions offer a unique opportunity for students to handle artefacts from the Collections and learn more about how war shapes lives.
What about the family sessions you run at the weekend?
Drop-in informal learning sessions will continue to be offered free of charge at the Museum. Some special ticketed events will be charged, as now.
